M & M 50th Birthday Bash

Welcome to Melts in Your Mouth but Not in Your Hands Blog Hop for not one but two beautiful ladies who are beautiful inside and out but have the love and joy of crafting. We are celebrating their birthday with a wonderful candy that is not only beautiful inside but outside and both sides are delicious!!!! What a better treat than to use M&M's for birthday wishes!!!! And, they are both turning 50, but shhhh don't spread the rumor as who would ever believe you after looking at their picture!

We have a super wonderful group of crafters to help wish not only Kimberly Pate but Rachelle Larsen a super very happy Birthday. Our hop begins with Kimberly Pate at http://scrappingrookie.blogspot.com in case you just happened to stop at my blog to visit me. Don't get me wrong, but since there is such a delicious hop, I wouldn't want you to miss a single stop along the way!!!!! If you have arrived from Lisa Peter's blog then you are following the empty bags of M&M's.

My entire immediate family is made up of M & M's, so I decided to make a layout to put pictures of everyone in my family on. I used paper with circles in M & M colors, circular frames, an M stamp that looks a lot like an M & M from the Hero Art's set, in the center I have "Always Sweet, Sometimes Nutty" stamped because that reminds me of both my family and M & M's! Our names are below the frames, Matt, Miriam, Maggie, Max and McCoy Meserve!

I also made birthday cards for the two lovely ladies celebrating their 29th birthday's today. So, if you are NOT one of the birthday girls (or if you are and don't care about being surprised) scroll down to the bottom of this post to see them!

Your next stop along the way is Amanda's blog. I have included the complete line-up just in case you would happen to get lost along the way or at too many M&M's. Don't go to fast though, make sure to check out the amazing sponsors below, and my cards below that!

Kimberly Pate
PO Box 166
Peru, NE 68421

Rachelle Larsen
1099 N. Monarch Ave.
Post Falls, Idaho 83854

The card I made for Rachelle has a hot air balloon from the Summer in Paris Cricut cartridge and a Stampin' Up sentiment stamped on paper punched with the coordinating punch. On Kimberly's card the bear is a paper piecing from the above mentioned sponsors site, Scrapping with Lisa Designs. Isn't he super cute? The papers on both cards are mostly Stampin' Up cardstock and some from my scrap bins. I am not sure of the brand of twine around the button sun. The flowers I got by cutting up a bouquet from Dollar Tree.

Summer Breeze challenge hop

See the curtains hangin' in the window in the evenin' on a Friday night
A little light a-shinin' through the window lets me know everything is alright
Summer breeze makes me feel fine
blowing through the jasmine in my mind
Summer breeze makes me feel fine
blowing through the jasmine in my mind
See the paper layin' on the sidewalk a little music from the house next door
So I walked on up to the doorstep through the screen and across the floor
Sweet days of summer the jasmine's in bloom
July is dressed up and playing her tune
And I come home from a hard day's work and you're waiting there not a care in the world
See the smile a-waitin' in the kitchen food cookin' and the plates for two
Feel the arms that reach out to hold me in the evening when the day is through
Summer Breeze Lyrics by Seals and Croft

We have a super creative group of ladies that are participating this month as this will be a monthly challenge where the players may change but the creativity is phenomenal:

Participanting Blogs for Summer Breeze
  1. Lynne Kirsch ~ http://slasewcraftiness.blogspot.com
  2. Kimberly Pate ~  http://scrappingrookie.blogspot.com
  3. Shelly Lynn ~ http://kccroppers.blogspot.com
  4. Lucy ~ http://www.love2createitall.com
  5. Lisa Peters ~ http://handmadewithlove-lisa.blogspot.com/
  6. Edwina Brown~  http://edwinascreations.blogspot.com/
  7. Anita Cannon~ http://www.anitaandbugs.blogspot.com
  8. Miriam -  http://miriamscreations.blogspot.com
  9. Janet Smith ~ http://www.ladyluvbug.blogspot.com/
  10. Jenny~ http://cccjalessi.blogspot.com/

If you have come to visit me today, I'm honored but I wouldn't want you to miss a single creative spot and would want you to start at the beginning which is Lynne at http://slasewcraftiness.blogspot.com/. You should have arrived from my creative accomplice Anita Cannon.

Now, to showcase my creativity, I have for you today I have made a card with images and colors that make me think summer.

The words and the lady on the front are from the Cricut cartridge Forever Young. It's hard to see in my terrible picture taking, but the dot of the i on bling is a rhinestone, they were also used as the center of the flowers on her dress, in her hair and there are 3 on the top right and on the bottom left of the card. The paper is from my scrap bin. To lengthen and emphasize I folded a piece of eight by eight card stock in half, so the card is 4 inches by eight inches. I backed the cuts and the accent paper with yellow, which made me think of sunshine. I found the sentiment I used on the inside of the card in the Country Life Cricut cartridge. I was looking for "You Are My Sunshine", but I liked this as well. I imagine her standing on a beach, or in a field enjoying a nice breeze and feeling fine. I hope you liked my card. Too bad you can't really see the vibrant, summery colors.

With all this being said, sadly, I must send you on your way to our next super crafty friend, Janet. Summer breeze makes me feel fine; blowing through the jasmine in my mind....

Stitched Blog Hop

Sew - A needle pulling thread; unless of course you're a crafter. That's when sewing becomes more than a needle pulling thread. It becomes whatever your mind can conceive and to show this, I have a great bunch of ladies with projects that show their INDIVIDUAL take on what "Anything Stitched" means.

Here is the full lineup for today in case you get lost!

Jearise - http://lorbysworld.blogspot.com
Lucy - http://love2createitall.com
L. Miriam - http://miriamscreations.blogspot.com
Lissa Marie - http://www.somanycrafts.com
Ashley - http://thebloghopprincess.blogspot.com
Robin - http://scrapandchat.blogspot.com/
Lisa - http://handmadewithlove-lisa.blogspot.com/
Cicily - http://pinkdalmationscrapper.blogspot.com/
Anita ~ http://www.anitaandbugs.blogspot.com
Jessi http://mylifeinartsncrafts.blogspot.com/
Maria - http://joyfulstamper.blogspot.com

I hope you will hop along with us today to see what these carfters have stitched up to show off. Your hostess, Jearise in Lorby's World is the beginning so please start there. She has a wonderful little gift for one lucky winner and all you have to do is hop through and leave a note on her blog and become a follower if you're not one already. You should have hopped along the stitching trail from Lucy's blog. If not, make sure to head on back so you don't miss a single amazing project!

I recently did a fabric swap and I was partnered with Anita, who you will visit later in this hop. She sent me some beautiful fabric including some orange (my favorite color). It called out to be turned into flowers, so here is what I came up with:

To see the tutorial for these flowers go here.
The flowers that Heather Bailey makes have more layers, but I'm lazy. I also wanted to see as much orange as possible! I also used her tutorial to remember how to make yoyos! She does a great job. The buttons on the flowers in the back are from my good friend Pamela who also has a great blog! Then, I had to decide the best way to show off these flowers. Accessories! So, I made a bracelet and a headband!

Thank you SEW much for hopping by today and please continue on to Lissa Marie's fantabulous blog.

Your first stop should have been CallyAnn's blog!

For my project I made a triple stamp card that has been popular lately among bloggers in my circle. Check out the video that we have used to learn the technique from here.

The background paper is from a value pack of Recollections cardstock that I got at Michael's. The goldfish paper was from a stack of scraps I got from CallyAnn! I used the summer tree from A Tree For All Seasons Stampin' Up set in the background stamped in Certainly Celery, which, after stamping over it turned out to certainly not be dark enough. The campfire is from a set of clear camping stamps from Studio G and was stamped with Stampin' Up Pumpkin Pie ink. The sentiment is from Stampin'Up and the ink used was Staz On Jet Black.

The S'more paper piecing I made using the cloud from the KISS Spring set from Scraptastical Kreations. Which I flocked with white and brown Martha Stewart flock. Then, I cut out rectangles to make the chocolate and graham crackers. I forgot the word great when handwriting my sentiment for the inside... Oops.

I have never done blog candy on my blog before, in fact just a few short months ago when I saw someone mention blog candy I thought they really meant candy! (Yep, I wanted to win it, drool....). So, here is my first offer of blog candy. Just leave me a comment telling me your favorite animal and I will create you a few critters from the Create-a-Critter Cricut cart. CallyAnn does an incredible job on these, so this is in dedication to her! If you haven't seen them, check out the older blog entries, they are GREAT! I will also be posting the winner On the 28th, so come on back!

BFF Blog Hop

I never had no one
I could count on
I've been let down so many times
I was tired of hurtin
'So tired of searchin
'Til you walked into my life
It was a feelin'
I'd never known
And for the first timeI didn't feel alone
My Best Friend

Granted Tim McGraw is singing of a lover as a best friend but there are so many ways to have a best friend!!! Today we are using Scrapping with Lisa's Designs whether it be Best Buds, Best Friends, or BFF. We all have that special someone that we can share our most intimate secrets, fears, and accomplishments!

Today, Lisa's Design Team is going to be sharing their BFF file with you and why they chose that particular file. Hope you sit back and enjoy our BFF with your BFF.

Lisa has a fabulous Design Team to share with you today and please don't forget to stop at the Design Team blog, page to leave a comment as Lisa is offering two (2) free files to a lucky winner that comments on the Design Team page and becomes a follower!!!!!

The Design Team participating today consists of:
Lisa Peters ~ http://handmadewithlove-lisa.blogspot.com/
Kimberly Pate ~ http://scrappingrookie.blogspot.com
Edwina Brown~ http://edwinascreations.blogspot.com/
L Miriam Meserve ~ http://miriamscreations.blogspot.com/
Janet Smith ~ http://www.ladyluvbug.blogspot.com/
Anita Cannon http://www.anitaandbugs.blogspot.com
Rhonda - http://craftingwithblue.blogspot.com

For my project I choose the Best Friends file. I wanted to make something special for my best friend and decided to make a card with our two little best friends, my daughter Maggie and her son Christopher. They have been inseparable since her birth and talk a lot about how they are going to get married when they grow up, how many kids they are going to have and many other things. They miss each other terribly when they can't be together...

This is an easel card that I made after viewing this tutorial. The paper is all from Stampin' Up, the word stickers are K&Company, the glitter is Spark Tinsel glitter that I won from Craft Warehouse! On the inside of the card I made a place for a picture which will be added when I find or print one out. The frame is cut from The Fancy Frames Cricut cartridge. I have been having a great time using the frames from that cartridge to make borders for cards!

Thanks for stopping, I hope you have enjoyed seeing my take on t his file, and remember to stop by again on July 29, 20912 when our project will be The Birds for our next Design Team project.

Lollipop hop!

Lollipop Lollipop Oh Lolli, Lolli, Lolli Lollipop! Even if you don't remember or know this song you will have to admit that there is nothing that brings a smile to a child's face like a lollipop. Do you have a favorite kind or do you like the really sweet multi-colored ones?

This hop is for you and your love of lollipops. You should have came from Lissa Marie's incredible blog. Our creative crafters have been at it again creating all sorts of yummy creations for this hop. Our hostess, Jearise at http://lorbysworld.blogspot.com, will have a sweet treat for you just for becoming a new follower or letting her know you already are one of hers and leaving a comment.

I made a simple card that I hope you enjoy. I used an 8 1/2 by 11 piece of card stock from one of the Recollections value packs I got at Michael's. Then, I cut the 5 sections of the doily rosette from the Ribbons and Rosettes Cricut cartridge at 1 inch, added the medallion and the medallion shadow to the top, rolled up a rectangle of card stock for the stick and voila, a lollipop! The lollipop was cut from Stampin' Up card stack. I am unsure of the exact color names.

On the inside of the card I made a sentiment using the Plantain Schoolbook cartridge. I used heart end caps around the words and cut them at 1 1/4 inches. Then, i used a VersaMarker to "ink" the outline of the banners and the lettering. The card stack used for the sentiment is also from Stampin' Up. I know the greeting "You're Sweet" is pretty generic, and I usually like something with a little more pizzazz, but who can resist on a lollipop card?

Thank you for hopping by today and sampling our flavors of lollipops and please continue on to the talented Amanda's blog.

Happy Birthday Kiera!!!!

Welcome To Keira’s Double-Digit Birthday Crafting Bash!

Oh, the dilemma of it all, what to get a talented gal such as Keira who is going to be 10 for her birthday!!!!! I know what, let's have a blog hop for her .....

Keira has sooo many talents and likes such as:
she will be going in the 5th grade, loves dogs and cats, loves to garden, is a competitive gymnast, but more importantly, she is the best crafting partner Lisa Woodward could have! At 9, she can use a cricut independently, and with SCAL and CCR. She likes to paper piece and scrapbook and loves making cards for everyone~and everything!!!! Hallmark may not have a card for “Sorry my Golden Retriever ate your shoe at my sleepover” but Keira sure does! Keira crafts along side Lisa, working on her own projects, and with helping Lisa with hers. Now, bear in mind that Keira is not a "kid" crafter so to speak but her skills go way beyond pipe cleaners and pom poms!

We have a talented group of crafters to help Keira celebrate her birthday and know she will be hopping along as part of her "surprise" .....

Our complete line-up is:

I chose to send Kiera a birthday pug since I was told she loves pugs, and I made the card pink because that is her favorite color. The pink background paper was from a DCWV glitter stack. The Magical Life of Fairies Blog Hop

Photobucket

Welcome to our Blog Hop, the Magical Life of Fairies. What little girl doesn’t dream of carrying a fairy in her pocket? They are so tiny and beautiful. They have beautiful wings and long pretty hair. This is what comes to mind when I think of fairies. Today, we have a lot of talented women that want to show off their beautiful fairies, that they created. So please join the party and fly around with us!!!

Oh, silly me, I forgot to mention we have some wonderful Blog Candy!!! The Scrapbook Stamp Society, http://scrapbookstampsociety.com, has agreed to sponsor the hop and will offer $12 worth of FREE fairy related digis as a prize for this hop. All you have to do is visit every blog and leave a comment. We would sure love it if you would start following our blogs, also.

If you want to start at the beginning of the hop and work your way down, go to Pamela's Blog http://kraftykatstampstudio.blogspot.com

If you came from Nancy's blog then you are flying where you are supposed to go.

I had thought of the idea of making a home decor project with fairy tale figures a fewP weeks ago and thought this waste perfect opportunity to try it out. I made a frame (#4) from the Fancy Frames Cricut cart. I also made the second layer from #2 to stabilize it a bit more. Then, I cut parts of the pixie from Dress Up Paper Dolls giving her a bit of sparkle on her dress with WOW chunky glitter that I won from Craft Warehouse and added a flower in her hair. Her wings are the shift layer of the first butterfly on the Rock Princess cart. The sunset in the background is from the Country Life cart. I used a VersaMarker to add highlights in her hair and a few shadows. I colored her cheeks with Stampin' Up pastels.

Now I must send you to the next stop on our hop. Please fly to the talented Amber at http://pixiperfectcreations.blogspot.com
Thanks for stopping by and remember to win the blog candy you must visit each blog and leave a comment.

Inked blog hop

Welcome to INKED -- I love the artwork that is being used in tattoos and it's amazing how many people are getting tattoos now-a-days and its not just for bikers or marines anymore! This hop then is dedicated to the beautiful artwork whether you have a tattoo or not . . .

Lynne Kirsch got her first tattoo in 2000 and it's of Winnie the Pooh floating upwards with 3 balloons on her upper thigh. She now wants to get another tattoo, and hopefully it will be this year, of angel wings with a quilt square in the center with her little angel's name above the wings.

We all get tattoos for various reasons. I have noticed that women with breast cancer that have their breast removed are now a large group of getting tattoos. When my lump was first found and of course with all the concern -- I thought and still feel that if and when my breast would be removed, I want to have a glorious tattoo of a peacock!!!! (FYI - these are not the words of this blog owner, but the general write up.)

The art of tattoo can be anything as simple as a name or as beutiful as a peacock and there is always a story behind a tattoo.

This blog hop is dedicated to the stories and the artwork behind a tattoo. If you happen to visit today at my blog, I appreciate the visit but I would love for you to appreciate all the wonderful projects that are being displayed today and would want you to stop at the first inking with Lynne at http://slasewcraftiness.blogspot.com. If you arrived from visiting Anita's blog, anitaandbugs.blogspot.com, then you are on the right artful path of inking!!!!

We are very blessed and fortunate to have Daisy Collins of I Love Sketches by Tsunami Rose for $10 of merchandise in her zibbet store (http://www.zibbet.com/.

When my husband and I first met we each had one tattoo. I had gotten mine in a tattoo parlor called The Portsmouth Tattoo Studio in Portsmouth, NH. He also had one, which he had gotten at Tattoo's by Hobo, in Portsmouth, NH. Years later, we found out that it was the same shop, known by two different names!

We both wanted more. So, instead of a traditional honeymoon, the day after we got married we went to Art for Life in Brattleboro, VT to get tattoos. Matt, my husband, is a musician. He got piano keys in a möbius strip, and I got an angel on one shoulder and a devil on the other. (In the picture of mine you can also see my most recent tattoo which is the equation L=M to the fifth. The L stands for love, and all 5 members of our family have names that start with M.) We decided to make it a yearly tradition, but it hasn't worked out that way, there have been two years I have been pregnant and times we haven't been able to afford it, but we have also sometimes cheated and gotten inked at other times of the year! The LO I made is for our wedding album that is still an ongoing project. (Please scroll down for pictures.) Hope you enjoyed my project and our artwork!

Your next stop along the path of inking is Jenny ~ http://cccjalessi.blogspot.com/

Thanks for stopping today and visiting our tribute to inking with the glorious artwork behind tattoos!

Cows versus Horses blog hop

Welcome to today's blog hop. Today celebrates 2 special holidays: LOVE A COW DAY and NATIONAL HORSE DAY so to celebrate some very talented crafters have come together to show off their work and to pick their favorite animal: horse or cow. Have fun seeing the projects that revolve around these two wonderful animals as well as find out who is our winner in Cows Verses Horses Blog Hop!

Jearise over at http://lorbysworld.blogspot.com is our hostess today and she is giving the digital black and white stamps of the horse and cow pictured on our blog button. All you have to do is become a follower of hers and hop through leaving a comment on the other crafter's blogs as well as hers.

You should have come from Jearise's blog to my blog.

Did you guess what animal I picked? Cow! There are some horses around here, but since I live in cow country, I felt that was my obvious choice. Also, I decided to use this hop as an excuse to start a recipe book, and since I don't eat horses...

I cut two 6 by 6 squares of thick paperboard (waste not, want not, right?), glued some wallpaper from a sample kitchen and bath wallpaper book to it, added some beef cuts from the From My Kitchen Cricut cart, a hamburger and oven mitt cut from the Nifty Fifties cart, punched some eyelets on the side and voila! Just need to make some pockets with the remaining wallpaper from the page I used once my computer is fixed and I can use Sure Cuts A Lot again. Then, of course, make some more pages!

Thank you for stopping by today and now please continue on to Lynne!

We will have blog candy to the lucky recipient that remarks on each site along the way!

I had National Nude Day, so my project has naked people on it. I made the card before really thinking about what it would be a card for.
After making the card I thought they looked like Adam and Eve and my friend Jenny agreed and so we came up with the sentiment ,"We were made for each other." I cut the people using the Cricut cart Dress Up Paper Dolls and the sun is part of a cut from Country Life. The bushes and the clouds were cut by hand. All of the paper is Stampin' Up card stock. I added Stickles to give the clouds a silver lining.

Thanks for stopping by and mark your calendar again next month to see what Holidays to Celebrate on August 11th for the next Calendar Girls Blog Hop!

Scrapping with Lisa Elephant Frame Hugger DT project

Welcome to Scrapping with Lisa's Designs (http://scrappingwithlisadesigns.com/) Design Team blog hop project for July 8th!!! Our project is using Elephant Frame Hugger 2 (http://www.scrappingwithlisadesigns.com/item_71/Elephant-Frame-Hugger-2.htm). As with any project there are rules. The Design Team is to create using the file BUT not doing as a digital design. With the rules being said, I would love to introduce you to our line-up for today!

Lisa ~ http://handmadewithlove-lisa.blogspot.com/
Lynne ~ http://slasewcraftiness.blogspot.com/
Kimberly ~ http://scrappingrookie.blogspot.com
Jackie ~http://jackrabbitscrappin.blogspot.com/
Rhonda ~ http://craftingwithblue.blogspot.com
Edwina~ http://edwinascreations.blogspot.com/
Miriam ~ http://miriamscreations.blogspot.com
Anita ~ http://www.anitaandbugs.blogspot.com
Janet ~ http://ladyluvbug.blogspot.com

We're so happy you joined us at the jungle today to frame our special little ones and know you can think of people that would look adorable set in this frame or even for a baby shower gift!!! Lisa is again, offering two (2) lucky winners a free file from her store by remarking on each stop along the way of the elephant walk!

For my project, I decided to make a shaped card. In order to get the shape of the frame I used Inkscape to convert the png into an svg, imported it into SCAL, copied it, flipped it and welded it. When I imported the svg file I ovlapped it temporarily to make sure it was the same size (didn't work perfectly, but close enough). Then, I cut all my pieces. I wish that I had made sure I knew which ones to glue first, I ended up having to cut the edge of frame so it wouldn't cover the trunk of the elephant. I also reversed the color of his eye parts and had to "fix" him with ink. Then, I decided he was s cute that he needed a buddy. Please check out the pictures below, leave me a comment then head on over to Anita's blog to see another great project.

Feature Attractions: BFF is the next project that will be presented by Scrapping with Lisa's Design Team on July 23, 2012. See you there and don't forget to leave your comments!!!! Ya alll come back 'ya hear!

That's what comes to my mind.  But, few know the actual reason we are celebrating this holiday. We know it has something to do with America, the flag, and independence.  On July 4, 1776, United States of America declared its independence from Britain.  So today is America’s Birthday! Happy Birthday, America!

If you arrived from Jenny's blog then you are on the right track.

For today's hop I made a decoration to hang on my door.

She is made from a Scrapping with Lisa paper piecing pattern you will be able to find here. She was this weeks freebie file if you are a newsletter subscriber! I made the circle in SCAL and creted the swing just by cutting strips of paper. Then, as you can see below, I punched a hole so that I can hang it up! Hope you enjoyed seeing my patriotic girl!

Thanks for stopping by! Now I must send you to CallyAnn's blog.
Remember, to win the blog candy, you must visit every lady's blog and leave a comment.
Have a safe and wonderful 4th of July!
