Stop by and check out these holidays as I am sure you are going to want to remember these holidays and include them in your card making projects!!!!!

For my first project I made a card for National Comic book day. I was lucky enough to have a wallpaper sample that included some old Mickey Mouse comic panels. That made it easy... I was worried about what I was going to do for this one. I like this panel, it just reeks of happiness and joy!
The red outline was part of the wallpaper, so I went with the black, white and red theme in the embellishments I choose. The flowers are from a jar of Prima's Got Flowers. The centers and the little bling flowers on the other side are from a set of K and Company embellishments.

For the inside of the card I continued the singing theme and the center stamp says, "This songs for you". The four stamps on the corners say, "Beauty, Dream, Fly and Sing".

My second holiday was Cheese Pizza Day. I found the perfect svg file at Images by Heather M. It's a pizza box! Good thing I used to work at Pizza Hut and know how to fold one. I used paper from a Tim Holtz stack cause, hey, why not? I've been looking for an excuse to use the paper... circles (pizza), stars have triangles as part of them (slices), perfect I say!

I made a slice shaped card using the super simple method of stretching a diamond in SCAL to the size I wanted it to be and cut it at the same time from the same 12 by 12 sheet of paper as the box. I then added the white paper on the bottom to make it easier to write a note seeing as how the other side of the paper was dark. I left it blank so it could be customized, but I was thinking a good sentiment would be, "Don't think I'm cheesy... but I love you...", or something along those lines.

I was on a roll, so I decided to make a project for International Peace Day too!

Once again I took advantage of SCAL's awesomeness and cut the world out because the wingdings font has that as one of the keys! I made the background paper green so that I could use the negative space as the earth. So much easier than gluing all those little pieces.... The peace symbol is from Scrappy Dew's Groovy Palz set, which, appropriately, can be found in their Around the World section! The colors didn't come out too well in this picture. I made this with my daughter in mind and the top is all pinks and purples... (she's 6).

Thanks for stopping by and mark your calendar again next month to see what Holidays to Celebrate on October 13, 2012 for the next Calendar Girls Blog Hop! Now, head on over to Lucy's blog to see what she has created!

  2. Miriam, I love all the cards. The association with the stars/triangles/pizza was brilliant. I love the red setting off the black and white in the comic book card. The world, well, it's the commercial for "want to enlarge your world? just use SCAL!", lol! Great job!
