Love you Mimi - Tsunami Rose Printables and more

Tsunami Rose Designs is having an "Anything Goes" challenge on her blog. Her printables are great for any project. I especially love the extras that she includes in them. In this project I used a few of the tickets and a sentiment from the New Beginnings Journal Kit. I also used a fabric covered button from the Pinque Peacock facebook shop.

This project was made in commemoration of my mother-in-law who was the happiest, most positive, most loving person I have ever met. She lived with breast cancer for many years and just passed away in August of 2012. She is very missed and it took me a long time to get up the courage to make a project like this.

All That Stickles Challenge "Anything Goes"

Stickled top
Closed card
I have had a four drawer card around for awhile that wasn't quite finished. I was disappointed in how much glue was showing on it and I knew it needed something more. When I saw the "Anything Goes Challenge" I knew exactly what I needed to do. I covered up the glue spots with Stickles and added some in other places to "dress it up". So, head on over to http://allthatstickles.blogspot.com/2013/08/new-linky-party-july-winners-new-dt-one.html and play along! I used Waterfall Stickles to cover the glue I used to put on the pearl trim, Turquoise Stickles to accent the flowers and Vintage Photo Distress Stickles to add some bling to the brown part (and cover some glue there as well).

The days I chose to do projects for are Father's Day and Sunglasses Day!

I found a sunglasses svg on the BeaOriginal blog and created a shaped card using MTC. I created a glint with a 5mm crystal AB rhinestone. The sentiment I typed up using Comic Sans and Wingdings fonts.

You have come to the end of the calendar, we are so glad you could join us. Thanks for stopping by and mark your calendar again next month to see what Holidays to Celebrate on July 13, 2013, for the next Calendar Girls Blog Hop!

White on White Blog Hop

This month Lorby's World of Hops has challenged this talented crafters by asking them to create something that is white on white with a touch of color. I know you will be as pleasantly surprised to see what they have come up with. There is so much talent here that I know they have risen to the occasion and have some wonderful projects to share.

So please begin at Lorby's World since she is our hostess and has a give away going on with this hop. She has all the details on her blog.

Our guest hostess is Tee and she is offering a give away from The Cutting Cafe who is our sponsor this month.

Please visit The Cutting Cafe to see all their beautiful printable and cutting files.

Now let's begin this hop. Here is my project to share.

I made a 12 by 12 layout as well as a hair clip. Recently I started to make a pile of materials and go for it when I make a project rather than planning ahead exactly what I want to do. I pulled out a bunch of white pretties and this is what happened. I can't wait to take pictures of my daughter to add to it. She recently got a box of clothes from her cousins that had a white tank top and a white skirt. She'll wear those as well as the hair clip I made with the bows that didn't work anywhere on the layout. I hope that my rhinestone sticker works for a touch of color. There are green leaves, but they are hard to see. The stick pin, beads, tulle, burlap square and smaller sunflower pearls are all from Miriam's Crafting Supplies. I added Frosted Lace Stickles to the cut and on the flowers for some added sparkle.

Thank you for stopping by today and now your next blog to visit is Janet's blog.

Butterfly hop - hosted by Lorby's World

Thank you for fluttering by today and seeing all the butterflies we have in this hop. These crafters have performed butterfly magic again with their creations and I hope you enjoy looking at the beauty of these creations.

Jearise from http://lorbysworld.blogspot.com is our hostess today and she has a butterfly filled gift for one lucky visitor today so please make sure you begin at her blog to find out how to enter the drawing.

Butterflies inspire and delight us, they make us stop in our tracks and gaze in wonder. This hop is dedicated to them and to the joy they bring. I decided to make an album. I think it is more and I haven't decked out the inside... yet. It is a 6 by 6 album reminiscent of a Smash album, since it's larger than a mini, made from 1/4 of a 12" frozen pizza box. I covered it with some wallpaper from a sample book and then cut 12 by 12 double sided sheets from the K&Company Roam paper pad for the inside pages. The front is decked out with two handmade fabric flowers (with button centers), a handmade stick pin, a butterfly cut from an svg I found at Bird's Cards (but I used some yarn and a bead instead of the provided body cut), and a piece of ribbon. To cover some of the glue that wasn't hidden by the pages I made a bookmark. I took some ribbon with small eyelets along the center and threaded twine through it. On the end, I looped the twine and threaded a butterfly charm onto it before gluing it onto the back of the lace. I also glued a line of twine below the lace since I didn't glue the lace quite far enough down.

Thank you so much for joining us today and please flutter on to the talented Ashley.

Double Dog Dare Challenge March 2013 - Spring!

It's March and Spring is in the Air when a young man's fancy turns to fishing and a young girl's fancy turns to a new wardrobe!!! Ok, maybe not but there are so many things out that there to symbolize Spring Has Sprung ....

We have a talented group of crafters participating today to show their interpretation of SPRING . . . .
  1. Lynne ~ http://slasewcraftiness.blogspot.com/
  2. Anita ~ http://www.anitaandbugs.blogspot.com
  3. Miriam ~ http://miriamscreations.blogspot.com
  4. Janet ~ http://ladyluvbug.blogspot.com/
  5. Vicky ~ http://crafting-vicky.blogspot.ca/
  6. Edwina ~ http://edwinascreations.blogspot.com/
We have a fabulous sponsor:

Miriam's Crafting Supplies, https://www.facebook.com/MiriamsCraftingSupplies?fref=ts. She has super pearls, bling, and great additions for your crafting projects. She will be giving away 10 set of pearls, rhinestones and/or dew drops of your choice to someone who leaves some bloggie love for all the ladies along the way!

When I think of spring, I think of flowers, so for my project I made a garden. It's nice to have a bit of spring while it continues to snow...

The background is made on a 8 by 10 canvas with a decorative napkin and tissue paper for the sky. The clouds are made from bunched up ivory tulle (available at Miriam's Crafting Supplies).

The base is a cigar box which I took the top off of and then covered the sides in paper, filled the inside with floral foam and covered the top in fabric. I then cut out two sections of picket fence found on Bird's Cards. I wrapped twine around the them for vines and added some bronze tone leaf charms (available at Miriam's Crafting Supplies [MCS]) and silver leaf charms as well as a few yellow mulberry paper flowers I ordered from my friend Adele Garcia.

Along the inside of the fence are flowers made with various methods on stick pins and ground cover flowers that are buttons and sunflower pearls (both available at MCS). The light purple flower with the butterfly charm (available at MCS) on the top left is made from ivory tulle and stamped with Colorbox ink. There are also flowers made with ric rac, lace and burlap (all available at MCS).
Some are made directly on the pins, others were made separately and attached to the pins afterward. The stick pins are also available at MCS.

Here is a top view of just the garden, you can see the fabric that is the pattern of a brick path well here. Some closeups of the sections of flowers - - -

Your next stop along the way is the fabulous Janet who will be bring more spring fling your way!!!!!!

I am entering this project into the following challenges:

Party Time Tuesdays #112 - Color Inspiration Challenge
Cuttin and Stampin #11 - Color Challenge

Spring Card for Red Carpet Studios Challenge

Red Carpet Studios has a weekly challenge, this week it's "Leprechaun" which entails making a card with at least two shades of green. Here is my card:

It is made on a green A2 flat, aka a single layer card, with green ric rac, green ribbon, green pearls, and a handmade flower made with green ribbon. In the center of the green flower and green ribbon are buttons available at my supply shop. Normally the pearls would be available, but I'm currently sold out of most of my greens. I also made a birds nest with copper wire and beads. The tutorial for making it can be found on the The Frugal Crafter's blog. The sentiment was written and printed but me and pop dotted with foam dots that I sell. Thanks for stopping by!

Beautiful Burlap Blog Hop

Welcome to the Burlap Hop, if you have come here from Robin's blog you're on the right track, if not head to Jessi's blog and start at the beginning. She is offering an amazing giveaway, the details will be on her blog, but here is a list of what you could win!
1 yard of red 2" burlap ribbon
1 yard of white 2" burlap ribbon
1 yard of mint green 1"
1 yard of 1.5" jute ribbon in natural
1 yard of your choice of colored 3/8" jute ribbon (see her etsy store)
And pick 2 colors of jute twine (see her etsy)
This was my first time working with burlap. Jessi Buehrle was nice enough to send me some. It is such a fun texture to work with. I wish I could have thought of something more creative to do with it, but I ended up making flowers. After making them I couldn't decide what to do with them, so I put magnets on the back (available in my supply shop).  The buttons in the center are also from my shop. I made two flowers by my tried and true method of making long narrow strips, layering ever smaller strips of different material, sewing loosely in and out of the bottom, then gathering. I also attempted to make a rolled flower. I have never had great success making them look the way I'd like them to... Ah well...

For my first holiday I had National Craft Month, so I decided to make a card to honor all my crafty friends. I wish I could send one to all of you, but I can't... so here it is for all to see:

I decided to put a little of everything on the card: yarn and some knitted twine (on nails), some lace, a few beads (given to me by my friend Jenny Alessi), both on a string and on a pin. Also on the pin is a charm from my craft shop (it's a key). There are some buttons, a svg of a pinwheel from SVGCuts.com (one layer of the many layered freebie). In the middle of the pinwheel is a flat backed pearl from my shop. Also some paper flowers, lace and buttons. The sentiment I made using a font that I found here and the heart is from here.

The other holiday I chose to make a project for is Goddess of Fertility Day. I made an altered canvas.

The image of the Goddess's I found here, then I printed them on a thin card stock. The Klimt reproduction and the sunflowers are both napkins. They are adhered to the canvas with Mod Podge.

I decorated the ladies with various items including some dew drops, rhinestones, and red sunflower pearls from my supply shop as well as items that I had in my stash. You can also see a tree charm that came from my shop, as well as a jute cord that I used the put around the edge of the picture. The tree is another symbol that come up when you search for fertility.

Here is a close up of the left side where you can see the "vine" I made with thin green ribbon and put flowers on. You can also see the bird charm that, along with the bee on the sunflower napkin, makes the birds and the bee(s).

This flower I received in a swap from Eve Jansen-Brand (blog here). I added the button in the corner.

Your next stop along the way of the calendar is Lorby's World. Thanks for stopping by and mark your calendar again next month to see what Holidays to Celebrate on April 13, 2013, for the next Calendar Girls Blog Hop!

Red Carpet Studios "The Wedding Singer" Challenge

Have you checked out the Red Carpet Studio blog yet? If not, get over there and do it! Lot of great inspiration and fun. This week's challenge was to make a wedding or anniversary card. I decided to make an anniversary card. Now I'll be ready for my anniversary in November, as long as I don't lose it before then.

The red and yellow balloon is a file from the Summer in Paris Cricut cartridge that a friend of mine made for me. The other balloon, the large watch and the flower are all premade embellishments from a pack I got as a RAK. The watch charm in the top left, hanging from the twine is from my supply shop

The sentiment that I put on the inside of the card I put together just for this card. I used the Metro Retro NF font found here. I will be putting this sentiment up at my supply shop later this week, like my page to download that, and others (for free)!

Creations using Pinque Peacock items and Cuttin and Stampin challenge!

I am totally in love with all the items that The Pinque Peacock carries! They are amazing for crafting, but I have a hard time using them because I don't want to let them go... So, the first project I made is a bracelet for myself with one of their flowers...

I used a vintage style lace with wide eyelets that a ribbon could be put through, 5/8" satin ribbon (available at my supply shop), and a gorgeous elegant floral from Pinque Peacock (the center of which is a fabric covered button that they also sell and the "petals" are made from 3 Girl Jam crinkle ribbon)!

Next, I made a single layer Thank You card and used one of their stick pins...

Embellishing with lace is another obsession of mine lately... I love it! I made this with the Cuttin and Stampin challenge in mind and so I used green, purple and yellow lace as well as adding a yellow flower and yellow pearls (available at my supply shop). The sentiment I created myself and it is available on the wall at my shop for free!

If you want to join in on the fun for this color challenge from Cuttin and Stampin head on over to their blog!

Fun single layer card

Just a quick post to share a fun single layer card I put together today. I saw a few different projects with pinwheels recently and had to play with them. So, I found a freebie on SVGCuts.com. My version is simplified, but that is what I wanted. I added some buttons, dewdrops, pearls and a rhinestone (all available at my craft supply shop). The sentiment is from the Hot Air Balloon Collage from TPC Studios. Thanks for stopping by!

For Thank a Mailman Day I made a card for my mail lady. I used a digi that I got for free from being a fan of Fresh Brewed Designs on Facebook! I printed the digi directly on the card, colored it in with Crayola markers (cause I still can't find my Prismacolor pencils), poked a few holes to add some flowers, added some 7mm bling to each corner from my supply shop, and a Thank You stamp from Stampin' Up.

My other day was Random Acts of Kindness Day. I am in an amazing group on Facebook called Random Acts of Kindness (RAK) in which we send each other mostly cards, but sometimes other things. I thought I would make a nice card to randomly send someone in the group. Here it is:

The bracket svg I got here. The sentiment is from the Hot Air Balloon Collage set from TPC Studios. I then added a button (which I colored with ink) and a charm (attached with a brad) both from that I have received from people in the RAK group. The 7mm clear bling and the 5mm light brown bling are from my supply shop.

White as Snow Hop

Welcome to the White as Snow Blog Hop where the idea was to either create something that has white as a primary color or as the background. I'm sure some of these crafty bloggers got creative and combined both but you will only be able to find out by hopping along with us today...

Our hostess for this hop is Jearise from Lorby's World (link to - http://lorbysworld.blogspot.com) and it's a good thing to start at her blog because she has a special give away of her own and all the details are on her blog.

We also have a guest blogger, Anita from Anita and Bugs, who also has an awesome give away on her blog.

Our wonderful sponsor for today's blog hop is THE CUTTING CAFE so please make sure you visit their online store to see all the wonderful cutting and printable files they have.

The Cutting Cafe is giving away to one lucky winner 3 files of their choice. To qualify, you need to visit The Cutting Cafe store and then "like" The Cutting Cafe on FACEBOOK and let Regina, the owner, know that you came from the White as Snow Blog hop. I can tell you now that if you like printable sayings and cutting files, you will love her designs and she has specials going on all the time on her FACEBOOK page.

Now on to the hop...

I used Vanilla Cream Core'dinations card stock for the base of my card, then added some beautiful lace that is 5" high, some 5, 7 and 10mm flat back pearls and some mulberry roses. This card was simple to put together, but I find it to be very elegant. I meant to put the sentiment, "True Love" on it, but I couldn't figure out how to weld in MTC. The lace and pearls came from my supply store, Miriam's Crafting Supplies, and the roses came from my friend Adele Garcia who sells them!

Thank you so much for joining us today and your next stop is Jaime's blog.

For my first holiday I did National Oatmeal Month. I love oatmeal and I eat it every day for breakfast, but I thought I needed to do something a little more fun for this project that a layout of me eating breakfast. So, I made a treat box for my daughter for Valentine's which has oatmeal cookies in it. The backing for the treat box was made out of a 5" by 7" card shipper (available from Miriam's Crafting Supplies). I took the side flaps off of it so that the sides would be open, put the whole thing on my Cricut mat and lined it up to cut a heart out of the front of the box using MTC. I cut it higher than I anticipated, so instead of transparency I used card stock to back it. Then, I cut the same heart out of paper and covered the kraft paper mailer with patterned paper (it is from a Recollections collection, I'm not sure which). I had to use a blade to cut the opening out of the back of the shipper to put the tab in to close it. The card stock I used to back it with is part of the scraps from my next project. Inside the box I taped a 5 by 7 cello bag (also available at Miriam's Crafting Supplies) that I filled with cookies and closed up.

The other holiday I made a project for was National Pie Day. I searched for a mini pie box svg and found this one at All Things Crafty and Delicious. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to make a mini pie, but those don't stay well, and I think that this will be my son's Valentine's Day gift, so that's ok. There is a piece of transparency over the opening on the top of the box. Instead of a ribbon in the slits meant for that on top I used twine.

I am entering these is the Creative Cutting Challenge - Valentine's Not A Card
